Daily observed peak water level and rated discharge from 1 July to 31 October 2017 at Khong Chiam . The flows are compared against the 1:2, 1:10 and 1:20 ARI of the observed water level and rated discharge (1966-2010) at Khong Chiam .

Zone 1: If the daily observed water level lies below 1:2 ARI, it means “normal hydrological conditions”. There is no need for action.
Zone 2: If the daily observed water level lies between 1:2 and 1:10 ARI, it is greater than what naturally occur but it still means that hydrological conditions remain “stable”. There is a need for caution.
Zone 3: If the daily observed water level lies between 1:10 and 1:20 ARI, it means that hydrological conditions are “unstable”. Investigation should be undertaken to identify the possible cause(s) and possible mitigation measures. There is a need to be on alert.
Zone 4: If the daily observed water level lies above 1:20 ARI, it means that hydrological conditions are “severe”. Implementation of mitigating measures should be considered.
